Help Matilda Spread the Love to Other Animals

Matilda has set up a page to help raise resources for animals in need! We were so relieved and thrilled to meet our fundraising goal for Matilda’s care, and we would like to keep it going by encouraging her fans to give to other animals.

If you are looking for a way to help animals like Matilda, please visit her CanadaHelps page here.

There are two wonderful organizations that you can choose to give to in this campaign. More about them below:

Paws for Hope Animal Foundation

Paws for Hope is unique in that we’re the only charity to directly help B.C. companion animals AND assist established animal rescue & welfare organizations with their different areas of need – all in our quest to build sustainable animal welfare in this Province.” – Kathy Powelson, Executive Director of Paws for Hope

Matilda’s GoFundMe Goal

Update: We are so happy and grateful to be able to say that we have reached our goal. It is a true gift to know that we have the resources readily available for Matilda in the event that she needs emergency surgery. It also means that we can pay for her ongoing need for medicine and veterinary ophthalmologist visits. We are also so happy to be able to donate a healthy portion of the money raised to people that need help paying for medical needs that their animals need right now. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has donated. We are so touched by your generosity.

We don’t know what comes next, but we do know that Matilda will likely need help in the not-too-distant future. While the original condition does not have a name or a known cause, the effects do. She is mostly blind. The eyes are obviously enlarged, and while her last check-up showed regular pressure levels, common sense seems to say that they can only grow so big before something has to give.

Update: her eyes are cloudy, but we learned today (06/12) at Matilda’s check-up that she does NOT have glaucoma!

Surgery is extremely expensive – several thousands of dollars. With this in mind, we know that we have to plan for Matilda’s future.

We also recognize that people love to see Matilda’s photos! She is beautiful and lively and we’re happy that we get to share that with all of you. She doesn’t seem too shy about posing for the camera either… Hopefully her new-found fame will have a little bit of influence and inspire those who love her and other animals to give.

To this end, we have started a gofundme campaign in the hopes that we can raise a little emergency fund for Matilda for when the day that she needs it arrives. We have set a total goal of $2500, which would allow us to nearly cover Matilda’s surgery when she needs it and be able to dispense a healthy portion to animals that need medical attention right away.

We want to share the love that you’ve shown Matilda. There are tons of cats (and dogs and rabbits and other creatures!) that need medical help too. Matilda will donate 25% of her funds raised to an animal welfare charity to help other critters in her neighbourhood that are in need of financial help right away.

Hopefully the day will come when Matilda’s condition will be stabilized and we will no longer have to fear what expensive procedure is just around the corner. In that case we hope that we could just help raise money for other animals who need help! This is our goal.

If you would like to help Matilda (and other animals like her) please visit her gofundme page. Every little bit helps.
